The Western States Horse Expo is held every year at the
Cal Expo Fairgrounds in Sacramento, California.

The Western States Horse Expo is the largest and most comprehensive equine exposition and trade show in North America. Created to bring together horse enthusiasts and the businesses that serve them, the Expo has evolved into a three-day extravaganza serving the interests of every type of horseman in an entertaining and informative atmosphere. From the Mane Market Mall, featuring hundreds of vendors, thousands of products, and millions of dollars in sales…to dozens of knowledgeable clinicians and experts…a complete display of breeds and sports…a premium horse sale, an art show, and a world class riding competition…there is something for everybody at the Western States Horse Expo.

Since 1999 the Western States Horse Expo has attracted a half million equestrian enthusiasts and industry professions from around the world. A horse expo was not a new concept to the Western States Horse Expo founder and CEO Miki Cohen. After a 1998 visit to Equitana to experience for herself what the talk was all about, Cohen realized that California would be the ideal place to organize a horse exposition; particularly since it is the largest equine economy in the nation and the fifth largest economy in the world.

The Horse Expo's success is a real reflection of America's passion for the equestrian and Western lifestyle. It has also served to provide access to world-class knowledge, respected vendors, and high-quality products; and to promote the enjoyment and advancement of the equestrian lifestyle.
